Where are you located?

I live in the Northern Virginia area.

What should I wear?

I recommend staying as true to yourself as possible and being comfortable, but then taking it up a tiny notch.  I suggest coordinating around a similar color palette, using accessories and textures to add variety and avoid matching too closely.  Pinterest is a great place to get ideas, and Charming Charlie has fantastic and affordable accessorizing options.

Can I bring props I want included in the photographs?

Yes!  Especially for newborn and children sessions, I highly recommend bringing items of significance and/or ones that will help your little ones relax and enjoy the experience.  Special blankets, stuffed animals, etc, are good ideas.  Balloons, sonogram photos, name blocks, etc, are great for maternity and newborn sessions, as well.

Can I request specific photo poses?

Yes, you can!  As long as the poses are safe, I am open to ideas.  I currently do not offer newborn composite photographs.

Where will our pictures be taken?

I have a cozy studio in my home for newborn and children sessions, and am familiar with an array of beautiful outdoor locations around the NOVA area for all other types of sessions.  I also love trying new places, so if there is a particular location where you would like to have your photos taken, just let me know!

Is there a perfect time of day to take photos?

The magic time is an hour or two before sunset, when the earth is bathed in golden light.  It’s the photographer’s favorite time.

How long does my session last?

All sessions are approximately an hour in length, with newborn sessions providing the one exception.  They last 2-3 hours in length to provide enough time for feedings, position changes, and helping baby fall asleep.

What if I need to reschedule?

Not a problem!  As a mom of two little kids, I understand all too well that life happens and people get sick.  I ask that you let me know as soon as you can, preferably 24 hours in advance, so that we can work out a new time.

What if there is bad weather?  

We will reschedule if there is bad weather like rain, snow, or high winds.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

I do require a 20% non-refundable deposit at the time you book your session.

What types of payment do you accept?

I currently accept check, cash, or credit card payments.

Will I receive every image created?

I take lots of pictures to ensure I capture those sweet moments.  You won’t get every image I take, but I will choose the best ones and those images will be edited and delivered to you.

Do you edit the photos?

I lightly digitally enhance images to cover blemishes, but I try to keep everyone looking as natural as possible.

What is your turn around time between the photo session and when I will receive my photos?

I usually deliver images to my clients within two weeks of the session.

How will I receive my photos?

I usually upload images to a password protected PASS gallery where clients can view, order prints, and download them.  I can also provide a cd of images if you prefer.
